At Little Hero Lab, we understand that a child’s photograph is personal and deserves special care. This policy explains in simple terms how photographs and artificial intelligence (AI) are used when creating a personalized Little Hero product.
1. Why We Ask for a Photo
A clear photograph of your child is used as a visual reference so we can create a personalized illustrated character that resembles them.
The photograph helps the AI understand visual characteristics such as facial features, hair, apparent age and overall appearance.
The resulting character is an AI-generated illustration, not an exact digital copy of the child.
2. Who May Upload a Child’s Photo
Little Hero Lab is intended to be used by adults.
By uploading a photograph of a child, you confirm that you are the child’s parent, legal guardian, or another adult who has the authority to provide the photograph for creation of the personalized product.
Children should not upload photographs or personal information directly to Little Hero Lab.
3. How AI Is Used
Little Hero Lab uses artificial intelligence to transform the supplied information and reference photograph into personalized characters and illustrations.
Our generation process may use:

The child’s reference photograph

First name
-
Age and gender
-
Interests and personalization details

Selected world and theme

Selected visual style
We currently use the OpenAI API as part of this process.
The generated illustrations may differ from the original photograph. AI-generated content can contain visual variations or imperfections, and an exact likeness cannot be guaranteed.
4. Your Child’s Clothing and Adventure
The photograph is primarily used as an identity reference.
Depending on the selected adventure, the generated character’s clothing, pose, environment and other visual elements may change to fit the chosen world or theme.
For example, a child entering a hockey adventure may appear in hockey clothing, while a fantasy adventure may use clothing appropriate to that setting.
5. We Do Not Sell or Publicly Use Your Child’s Photo
We do not sell your child’s photograph or personal information.
We do not use your child’s photograph or personalized character for:

Advertising
-
Social media posts
-
Public website examples
-
Promotional campaigns
unless you have separately given us permission to do so.
Purchasing a Little Hero product does not automatically give us permission to use your child’s photograph or personalized product for marketing.
6. AI Model Training
Little Hero Lab uses the OpenAI API for AI generation.
According to OpenAI’s current API data practices, data submitted through the API is not used to train OpenAI models by default unless the API customer explicitly opts in to data sharing.
Little Hero Lab does not intentionally opt in to sharing children’s photographs for AI model training.
7. Temporary Generation Files
During creation of your Little Hero product, temporary copies of photographs, generated images and other production files may be created within our technical infrastructure.
Our system is designed to remove temporary production files after the completed product has been successfully transferred to our delivery system.
Some service providers may maintain limited temporary copies according to their own security, operational or legal retention requirements.
8. Finished Products
The completed personalized product may be stored through our website and delivery infrastructure for a limited period so that we can:

Recover an order if a technical problem occurs
Order information may be retained separately where required for accounting, legal or customer-service purposes.
9. Human Review
Little Hero Lab is designed to generate products automatically.
In some cases, limited human review may be necessary to investigate a technical problem, respond to a support request or resolve an issue with an order.
Access is limited to what is reasonably necessary for that purpose.
10. Keeping Children Safe
We aim to minimize the personal information required to create a Little Hero product.
Please upload only an appropriate photograph of the child needed for personalization.
Do not upload photographs containing sensitive documents, addresses, school information or other unnecessary personal information.
11. Removing Your Data
If you would like to ask about or request deletion of personal information or photographs that you provided, contact:
Please include enough information for us to identify the relevant order.
Certain transaction or accounting information may still need to be retained where required by law.
